The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced the schedule Wednesday, which includes 217 state highway projects and 66 safety, improvement and repair work projects.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty made the announcement, stating the road projects are a foundation to the state's transportation infrastructure.

"Minnesota's transportation system is a cornerstone to a strong and vibrant state economy," Pawlenty said. "Our administration has invested more than $5 billion on more than 1,900 projects since 2003 to battle congestion, improve safety, and foster economic growth."
